Middle East c.1919-1995

This unit covers the emergence of the Arab-Israeli conflict over Palestine and then Israel after 1948. You will familiarise yourselves with the region (map work on where these countries are) as well as understanding the differing perspectives on ancient land rights and entitlement to rule this area. The topics include; the growth of modern Zionism, growing Jewish immigration to Palestine 1920s -1940s, British attempts to maintain peace and stability this mandate period, the four Arab-Israeli Wars, Camp David Agreements and the Oslo Accords. By the time you finish your unit you will be better equipped to better understand modern tensions in the Middle East as well as doing well in your IGCSE exams.
